The haunting feeling of phantom fat loss...
Is it really happening?
Am I losing fat?
Or is it my mind playing tricks on me?
You never can really tell.
And that’s because you’re looking too close. Day to day fluctuations don’t give you an accurate picture.
You lose 2-4 ounces of fat per day.
So as long as you eat the appropriate amount of calories every day and keep your activity up (step count)…
You’ll lose about a pound of fat per week.
2 ounces per day x 7 days = 14 ounces (give or take)
But it can and will get lost in day to day fluctuations.
Because those can swing wayyyy more than 2-4 ounces.
And this is why we don’t focus on fluctuations on the scale.
Instead, looking at the rolling average over a long time period gives you the true picture of what’s happening.
The moment you become patient enough to look at a rolling average for 3 months, you’ll realize that your fat loss is not phantom at all.
It’s really happened.
Which will give you the evidence and certainty you need to continue.
But it’s those dastardly fluctuations that have claimed many a would be dieter along the way.
You’re doing everything right. Lifting, cardio, hitting your calories.
The scale starts to move.
Then…some wild fluctuations begin to happen.
“I can’t believe it, I gained 3 lbs from yesterday! Screw this.”
Ahhh…but that “gain”….wasn’t ever real.
The fat loss was happening at a rate of 2-4 ounces per day.
But the water, salt, food weight, urine and stool weights, glycogen stores in muscles and liver….these things are constantly fluctuating.
The fat loss wasn’t the phantom…it was the fluctuations.
So relax.
Nothing to be afraid of here.
Other than how amazing you’re going to look this summer…

PS
I recommend using an app called Macrofactor to track your weight and calories.
The real cool thing is that it smooths out the fluctuations for you so you get the rolling average built into the app. Very helpful.

If you want to get super lean this summer, send me a message.
I got 2 online coaching options (in person is now waitlisted at least until June).
Most people will never experience what it feels like to get super lean.
I think that really sucks.
Especially since anyone can do it.
Yes.
Anyone. Because fat is just physics. Too many atoms on your body. And we know how to get rid of them.
Join me on the Pirate Fat Loss journey as we get shredded for summer 2024.
Only taking 3 people this month. Let’s go.
